I had a ‘93 Prizm and that car was an absolute beast.... 34mpg, 1.8l Auto, it hit a deer at 65mph (did nothing but put a huge dent in the hood), ran over a pallet at 75mph (did nothing other than crunch the palette), I bought it at 177k miles and drove it until it hit 367k miles at which point I gave it to a friend that needed a car in a bad way. Truly a tank of a car!

My friends just give me a blank stare when I say that this car, as a daily driver, has been the best car I ever owned hands down.

I miss my 95, it was a base model but I learned to drive in it, it was debadged (which makes them look wayyyy nicer) and 5MT. It really wasn’t a slow car*, was good on gas and pretty reliable. The most miserable time I had with it was replacing the clutch, the car was obviously not packaged for a manual transmission.
*my current car has 55HP, which is actually adequate considering the sub 2k lb curb weight. I see so many comments about cars with pretty decent amounts of power being “tepid” or “slow.” I don’t get it.

*55hp?
is it that teal polo?
my 91 civic hatchback I had in 96-97 had 91 hp, more than enough to get you in trouble or scare the shit out of you since they were little tin boxes back then

Yeah, It’s that Polo. 55hp and 75 torques or around that. Going from 130hpish and 150 lb-ft torque, I now know the difference between slow, adequate, quick and fast. I don’t feel like I’m in danger with it and I do very much enjoy the slow car fast aspect combined with the light weight...... but sometimes I wish I had just 30 more ponies, it’d be a riot then.
